Location: Remote with option to work at the Detroit Lab HQ or Brooklyn satellite office
Our Vision: Revolutionize the integration of botany and technology by creating a global sensor network through millions of cloud-connected plants. This network will provide unprecedented insights into ecosystems, plant health, and our interaction with the environment. It's time to see the world through plants' eyes.
The Role: Join us as our Machine Learning Lead, a unique role demanding both technical expertise in data science and a passion for biosignal interpretation. You'll lead the decoding of electrochemical signals from diverse plant species and play a pivotal role in our groundbreaking approach.
Key Responsibilities:
• Process and analyze continuous time series data (biosignals similar to EEG), which have been recorded from plants, to decode meaningful patterns and insights about multiple randomly timed and overlapping multimodal stimuli in the plant’s environment.
• Collaborate with experts across disciplines (botany, electrophysiology, and so on) to understand and improve the data analysis process.
• Assist in the design of field trials and lab experiments.
• Assist in designing our distributed experimentation and collaborative fieldwork initiatives.
• Stay updated with the latest research in biosignal processing, machine learning, and related fields.
Qualifications:
• Experience in signal processing & creating models using machine learning, with a preference for experience interpreting & decoding complex biosignals or other continuous time series data.
• Prior startup experience, showcasing a hands-on and scrappy approach to problem-solving.
• A love for learning and exploration and an ability to bring deep knowledge to the team while keeping an open and curious mind.
Education: We prioritize experience and demonstrated ability over formal education. A Master's or PhD in a related discipline (data science, biosignal processing, etc.) is great nice to have as well.
We offer a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of a new scientific frontier, in a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative work environment. As an early team member, you’ll have significant opportunities for professional growth and skin in the game.
We're excited to see how we can work together!
