POSITION SUMMARY 

Alterra Mountain Company is looking for an Associate Change Manager to be a thought leader, coach and ambassador within our change management function. This position will facilitate a variety of change management initiatives and be responsible for ensuring we have a consistent, organized and effective set of practices, processes and tools that support a variety of change management initiatives. 


This position is not a management position and does not have direct reports. 


Working under the direction IT Program Management Office (PMO), the Change Manager will be spent work alongside project managers and solution architects managing medium to large size, moderately complex projects, or initiatives. 

This person will focus on the people side of change, including changes to business processes, systems and technology, job roles and organizational structures. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

General Responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing and improving change management practices, processes, tools, and templates.
  • Contribute to a change management community of practice.
  • Support the creation and implementation of change management strategies and plans to maximize employee adoption and minimize resistance.
  • Assist with stakeholder identification, change impact analysis, communications planning, training planning, readiness assessment, and adoption measurement.
  • Help develop communications and training materials to support successful transitions for end-users.
  • Support the development of change management plans for projects and change initiatives.
  • Assist in identifying and managing anticipated resistance to change.
  • Work alongside the change management team to support structured methodology and process implementation.
  • Help foster relationships with business and project stakeholders to build a network of change champions.
  • Quickly familiarize with client business challenges and technologies to provide valuable change management support.
  • Support project teams in integrating change management activities into project plans.
  • Assist in providing input and documentation for the design and delivery of training programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business administration, human resources, or change management) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of direct change management experience, including defining change management initiatives and risk assessment/mitigation planning for business and IT projects.
  • Experience using change management processes and methodologies across multiple organizational levels.
  • Experience in building change management processes and tools to support change management practices.
  • Experience with medium to large-scale organizational change efforts.
  • Ability to work with both technical personnel and non-technical stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements

  • Strong understanding of how individuals go through change and the change process.
  • Self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication abilities, as well as strong organizational, listening, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity working alongside project managers, business analysts, and other project team members.
  • Knowledge and expertise in change management methodologies, tools, facilitation skills, and techniques.
  • Experience leading others through changes related to enterprise technology.
  • Familiarity with project management approaches and phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to ask questions or research to develop a deeper understanding.
  • Ability to motivate teams, drive project success, and collaborate with large cross-functional teams without direct reporting responsibility.
  • Adaptability and tolerance for ambiguity, with a focus on delivering results even under shifting priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/change initiatives simultaneously.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Strong business acumen and forward-thinking approach.
  • Highly organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics.
  • Advanced competency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Change management certification or designation is a plus.
